Winter 2007 Newsletter
I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday
season. Myself – I’m as busy with deadlines and Christmas shopping as my
heroine, Maggie O’Brien in SECRET SANTA, which is a
novella in the December Harlequin NeXt anthology, A
CHRISTMAS PRESENCE. The other two stories in the anthology –
A CHRISTMAS PRESENCE by Donna Birdsell and ALL
I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS by Susan Crosby – are wonderful gifts, beautiful
stories by exceptionally talented authors. I hope you find time to pick up a
copy while the book’s available this month.
As well as hunting up those gifts on my
daughters’ Christmas lists, I’m busy wrapping up my Wedding Party series for
Harlequin American. The first book, UNEXPECTED BRIDE,
is a February 2008 release. If you haven’t seen the cover yet, check it out –
it’s gorgeous! The second book, THE BEST MAN’S BRIDE,
is a May release; FOREVER HIS BRIDE August and
FINALLY A BRIDE November. I’ve had so much fun
working on the series – I hope everyone enjoys the books when they come out.
Please have a safe, relaxing holiday season!
Summer 2007 Newsletter
To all those who have picked up a copy of
DAMNED – thank you, thank you, thank you! I hope
I’ve responded to everyone’s emails and letters, but I’m in the midst of
deadlines and changing internet providers so I might have missed someone. I LOVE
hearing from readers, and I’m thrilled so many people have enjoyed the Witch
Hunt series for Silhouette Nocturne. Although DAMNED
is the conclusion of the series, I hope to revisit the Cooper sisters in
the future. I’ll keep everyone updated on any developments with Nocturne.
Presently I’m busy with deadlines for my Harlequin American series
THE WEDDING PARTY, which is proving to be a lot of
fun to write. I also attended the Romance Writers of America conference in
Dallas and really enjoyed myself visiting with other writers. Two of my best
friends were up for the prestigious Golden Heart award for unpublished authors.
It was such a well-deserved honor for them to final in this contest. And of
course, my family and I are enjoying summer. I hope you and yours are too!
If you haven’t already, please pick up a copy of DAMNED
before it’s off the shelves. My next release is my novella,
SECRET SANTA, in the Harlequin NeXt Christmas
anthology, THREE WISE WOMEN. The other two novellas
are by talented authors Susan Crosby and Donna Birdsell – so you’ll want this
book on your Christmas list! (Weird talking about Christmas in August, huh?
Thanks again & Happy Reading!

Newsletter - Fall 2006
Happy Early Autumn!
I hope you’re all having as much fun as I am. I LOVE this time of year, not too
hot, not too cold – it’s just perfect here in west Michigan. I even love the
rainy days; it sets the mood for
writing Nocturnes, the new Silhouette dark paranormal line for which I’m writing
the Witch Hunt series. Book 1, HAUNTED, is a December 2006 release. Book 2,
PERSECUTED,
is an April 2007 release and Book 3, DAMNED, is tentatively scheduled for August
2007.
Since the hero in DAMNED is a cop, I decided to do some hands on research. I
enrolled in a Citizens Police Academy. So far it’s been very enlightening. I
can’t wait until they
let me play with guns. Of course if they read my books, they might not want to
arm me. I’m dangerous enough as it is; at least I am for my characters. I’m
having such fun writing
for Nocturne. I hope you’ll keep an eye out for the series.
LEARNING TO HULA is still available too. Thanks so much to those who’ve sent
letters and emails about HULA; I LOVE hearing from readers!
Don't forget to stop by my website and enter my contest. I'm giving away three
copies of Substitute Sister on October 14. A new contest will begin on the October 15, so
be sure to come by then to see which book I'll be giving away.
On another note, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Please remember and
remind others to get checked. Early detection is so important. One of my dearest
friends is battling breast cancer, but her prognosis is excellent thanks to
early detection and being one of the strongest women I know. She’s the lady who
took on the responsibility of updating my website and sending out my newsletter
because she got sick of nagging me to do it. <G> So now we’re going to nag all
of you – please get checked!
Newsletter - July 1, 2006
I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of Summer.
At my house this summer has started out as a very busy one. I’d like to believe
it will slow down, but since I’m busy at work on the second book in my
Silhouette Nocturne trilogy, I don’t think slowing down is possible.
I want to congratulate Loretta Wilson who is the first winner in my website
contest. She is selecting a copy of from backlist. Check my website to see which
book Loretta picks as her prize.
I’m looking forward to seeing my new Harlequin NEXT book, LEARNING TO HULA in
stores in August 2006.
To celebrate the release of LEARNING TO HULA, I’m starting a new contest on my
website. On August 11, I’ll draw three winners. Each winner will receive a copy
of my first Harlequin Next, TAKING BACK MARY ELLEN BLACK. I’m very excited to be
able to announce that TAKING BACK MARY ELLEN BLACK has been named the overall
winner of the More Than Magic contest.
To enter my new contest, go to my website at www.lisachilds.com and click on
contest. Winner will be announced on my contest on August 13.
I have more exciting news to celebrate this year since my first Silhouette
Nocturne, HAUNTED will be released in December, 2006. I’ll be telling you more
about HAUNTED and the other two books in the trilogy in the months ahead.
For now, I need to you to mark your calendars and tell your friends to be sure
to pick up a copy of LEARNING TO HULA in August!
If any of you will be in the Atlanta area on Wednesday, July 26, please stop by
the Atlanta Marriott Marquis from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the Readers for
Life Literacy Autographing which is part of the Romance Writers of America
National Conference. I’ll be participating in the autographing and would love to
have you stop by to say hello.

I hope 2006 is bringing everyone much happiness & success! I've
had some great news this year.
TAKING BACK
MARY ELLEN BLACK has been nominated for a Romantic Times Revewers'
Choice Award--what a fabulous honor & complete surprise! Even my bad news
has turned into good news this year. Although Signature discontinued
before the release of WITCH HUNT, that single book has now become a
3-book series for Harlequin's new paranormal line, Nocturne. I'm thrilled
to be part of another new line! I also can't wait to tell these stories
even though I know I'm going to scare myself as my romantic suspense always
does! My August NeXt has a new title, LEARNING TO HULA. It's
the story of a widow's process of finding how to make her own happiness after
she buries Mr. Right. I can't wait for its release, but in the meantime I
have several deadlines to keep me busy and I'm loving it!
As always, thanks for your support!!

Oops! I haven’t done a very good job keeping up. But I
haven’t had much news until recently. In the last couple of weeks, great things
have happened! I got a 2-book contract from NEXT, Harlequin’s women’s fiction
line. AN IMPERFECT LIFE (working title) will be an August 2006 release. The
second book, which is yet to be titled, will be either December 2006 or January
2007. And if that wasn’t enough fabulous news, I was given an early birthday
present for 2006; WITCH HUNT (working title) will be an October 2006 Signature
Saga. It’s a dark, paranormal suspense.
Despite being busy writing all these books, I will keep
updating my news – promise!
I also want to thank all those who sent wonderful emails
and letters about
TAKING BACK MARY ELLEN BLACK, my first women’s fiction novel
with NEXT. That book means so much to me; I’m so glad that it touched many
readers, too!
Please keep entering the contest – I’ve been drawing
winners and awarding books – the next winner could be YOU!
Thanks for all the support!!!

Happy New Year!
My New Year’s resolution is to mix things up a
little as you can tell by my website redesign. I wanted it to reflect the new
genre I’m writing, women’s fiction. But I just couldn’t resist that black cat.
For the New Year, I also intend to run monthly
contests with book/secret prize giveaways. So visit often. I intend to use
this page to keep you posted on what’s happening in my life.
To recap last year, I wrote a Gothic Eclipse
for Harlequin Intrigue that’ll be released March 2005 as THE SUBSTITUTE
SISTER. It’s a haunting story, literally. I grew up reading Victoria Holt
and Phyllis Whitney, so I really enjoyed writing it.
I also sold a book that’s very special to me.
TAKING BACK MARY ELLEN BLACK is a story about a woman finding herself
after a divorce. While I can’t identify with that, I drew on my experience as a
mother of two young daughters to portray Mary Ellen’s relationship with her
daughters. And her quirky family and friends bear some faint resemblance to
some of mine. I can’t wait for the August 2005 release of this book in
Harlequin’s new women’s fiction line, Next, that launches July 2005. This line
is going to be wonderful with stories women can really relate to.
I already saw the gorgeous cover for MARY
ELLEN...on the November 15, 2004 issue of Publisher’s Weekly. What a
thrill! So all in all 2004 was a fabulous year, and now I’m looking forward to
sharing all my news for 2005!
